Castine

Fort George – Earthworks are what primarily remain of this Revolutionary era fort.  Interestingly, there is a softball field inside the earth wall of the old fort. Good for a quick stop if you are in Castine.

Dyce Head Lighthouse – Now a private home, there is a small trail that goes past the lighthouse to the shore. There is a precipitous drop to the water so we did not go all the way.  There is also a preserve, Witherle Woods nearby that we did not have time to visit. 1 Battle Ave, Castine, ME 04421.

Maine Maritime Academy – The campus is part of the town of Castine and has some interesting buildings. Taking a walk around the outside of the campus to see the local houses is worth it.  They are well maintained and beautiful old homes. 1 Pleasant St, Castine, ME 04420

Castine Variety – overpriced local food.
